Description

The Kratki – K9 Freestanding Cast Iron Fireplace has been a popular choice across South Africa for those who want a large-sized traditional cast iron fireplace to heat a good-sized, open-plan living space.

This solid fireplace comes with double-layer cast iron for extra strength and extended lifespan. These Cast iron fireplaces are strong and durable. Cast iron retains heat and will continue to radiate heat even after the fire has gone out.

Double layer cast iron

Nearly all of the Kratki cast iron freestanding fireplaces are built with a double layer of durable cast iron, including the K6, K8, K8T and K9 models.

There is an outer layer of cast iron and a second, internal layer consisting of cast-iron panels.

The advantage of double-layer cast iron is that, if in the lifespan of the product, there is any damage caused by the intense heat, then only an internal panel needs to be replaced as opposed to replacing the entire fireplace.

We suggest you use the Fire Heart Polish for the preservation and restoration of your Kratki K9 Freestanding Cast Iron Fireplace.

When cleaning your fireplace glass we recommend you use the Kratki glass cleaning spray.

Why Choose a Cast Iron Fireplace?

Cast iron fireplaces are valued for their ability to retain heat and release it gradually after the fire has burned down. Unlike lighter steel fireplaces that cool more quickly, the Kratki K9 continues warming your room even after the flames have settled. This steady radiant heat makes it an excellent choice for homeowners seeking comfort, efficiency and long-lasting performance throughout the colder months.

Lighting your fireplace for the first time

When lighting your new fireplace for the first time, choose a day when you can open your windows and doors wide.
During the first fire, excess oils and paint residues from the manufacturing process burn off. This can create a hazy smoke and a noticeable smell in the room. This is completely normal and is simply part of the initial curing process. Keep the room well ventilated for a few hours, and the haze will clear.
Please see Kratki guidelines for further information.
