Description

Kratki K8/T Double-Sided Freestanding Wood Fireplace

The Kratki K8/T is a distinctive double-sided wood-burning fireplace designed to provide a view of the fire from two sides.

As a freestanding fireplace, the K8/T can be positioned between two spaces, allowing the warmth and visual appeal of the fire to be enjoyed from different areas of the home.

The K8/T has an 11kW heat output, 75% efficiency and a heating capacity of approximately 160–275m³. Manufactured from cast iron in Poland.

The Kratki – K8T Freestanding Double sided Fireplace is a favourite choice amongst our clients looking for a unique, double-sided cast iron fireplace which suits both modern and traditional interior spaces.

A double-sided or “see-through” or tunnel fireplace allows you to enjoy the fire’s ambience and warmth from two different areas at once. These fireplaces are a prominent appealing architectural feature, often divides two spaces, like a living room and dining room.

Double-Sided Wood-Burning Fireplace

The defining feature of the Kratki K8/T is its double-sided design.

With glass on both sides, the fire can be viewed from two different areas. This makes the K8/T particularly suitable for installations where the fireplace is positioned between two rooms or spaces.

Instead of having a fireplace that faces in only one direction, the K8/T allows the fire to become a feature that connects two areas.

The K8/T is a double-sided fireplace that allows the warmth and beauty of the fire to be enjoyed from two rooms or spaces.

Freestanding Fireplace for Two Spaces

The K8/T is a freestanding fireplace, giving you more flexibility than a conventional built-in fireplace.
Its freestanding format and double-sided firebox make it suitable for installations where the fireplace forms part of the layout between two areas.
Complements both modern and traditional interiors, with its cast-iron construction and rounded shape giving it a distinctive appearance.

11kW Wood-Burning Fireplace

The Kratki K8/T has an 11kW heat output and a heating capacity of approximately 160–275m³ with 75% efficiency.
The actual heating performance in a home will depend on factors such as room size, insulation, ceiling height, layout and the construction of the building.
Designed as a closed-combustion wood-burning fireplace.

Two Curved Glass Panels

The K8/T features two large curved glass panels, one on each side of the fireplace.
This provides a panoramic view of the flames from both sides while complementing the fireplace’s distinctive oval shape.
Kratki also uses an air-wash glass-cleaning system designed to reduce soot deposits on the glass during operation.
The double-sided glazing is one of the key features that distinguishes the K8/T from a conventional single-sided freestanding fireplace.
When cleaning your fireplace glass we recommend you use the Kratki glass cleaning spray.

Durable Cast-Iron Construction

The K8/T is manufactured from cast iron, a material known for its thermal properties and durability.

Kratki cast iron fireplaces are moulded to a minimum thickness of 8mm. The K8/T also uses a double-layer cast-iron construction, with an outer structure and internal cast-iron panels exposed to the fire. This construction is designed to provide strength and thermal stability during operation.

These Cast iron fireplaces are strong and durable. Cast iron retains heat and will continue to radiate heat even after the fire has gone out.

We suggest you use the Fire Heart Polish for the preservation and restoration of your Kratki – K8T Freestanding Double sided Fireplace.

Double layer cast iron

Nearly all of the Kratki cast iron freestanding fireplaces are built with a double layer of durable cast iron, including the K6, K8, K8T and K9 models.
There is an outer layer of cast iron and a second, internal layer consisting of cast-iron panels.
The advantage of double-layer cast iron is that, if in the lifespan of the product, there is any damage caused by the intense heat, then only an internal panel needs to be replaced as opposed to replacing the entire fireplace.

Primary and Secondary Combustion

The K8/T uses primary and secondary combustion.
A permanent secondary air intake at the top of the glass door helps maintain combustion inside the firebox and contributes to keeping the glass clearer.
Kratki also specifies an air-wash system to help reduce soot deposits on the glass.
For best results, use properly seasoned firewood suitable for a closed-combustion wood fireplace.

Top or Rear Flue Connection

The K8/T provides flexibility when planning the flue, with top or rear flue exit options.
The specified flue diameter is 130mm.
The final flue configuration should be determined as part of the installation and must follow the manufacturer’s requirements.

Practical Ash Removal

The K8/T includes a removable slide-out ash box, allowing ash to be removed from the fireplace more easily.
The grate and deflector are also designed for durability.

Why Choose a Cast Iron Fireplace?

Cast iron fireplaces are valued for their ability to retain heat and release it gradually after the fire has burned down. Unlike lighter steel fireplaces that cool more quickly, the Kratki K8T continues warming your room even after the flames have settled. This steady radiant heat makes it an excellent choice for homeowners seeking comfort, efficiency and long-lasting performance throughout the colder months.

Lighting your fireplace for the first time

When lighting your new fireplace for the first time, choose a day when you can open your windows and doors wide.
During the first fire, excess oils and paint residues from the manufacturing process burn off. This can create a hazy smoke and a noticeable smell in the room. This is completely normal and is simply part of the initial curing process. Keep the room well ventilated for a few hours, and the haze will clear.
Please see Kratki guidelines for further information.
