Charnwood Island III Wood Burning Fireplace
The Charnwood Island III is the largest stove in the Charnwood Island collection. Its substantial proportions and high heat output make it well suited to larger rooms and open-plan living spaces. The Charnwood Island III (3) is one of South Africa’s most popular choices because of it’s classic looks, exceptional grate mechanism and impressive heat output.
With a rated heat output of 12 kW and a range of 8–16 kW, the Island III provides substantial heating capacity while offering a wide view of the fire. This Charnwood fireplace can produce up to 16KW of output comfortably so this stove is suitable for a space of up to approx. 400 mᶟ. It is a wood-burning stove designed for dry seasoned wood logs.
The ‘Blu’ version of the Island III cast iron fireplace(wood-burner only) offers all the refinements noted above but with the added benefit of being compliant with Eco-Design 2022 regulations in Europe which makes it future-proof. In addition to Eco-Design readiness, the Blu version also meets the ‘Clear Skies‘ standards in the UK. What this means is that you can keep warm happy in the knowledge that you are burning your fuel in a responsible manner with less impact on the environment than a conventional stove.
Large 12 kW Wood Burning Stove
The Charnwood Island 3 has a rated output of 12 kW, with a heat output range from 8 to 16 kW.
Its large firebox can accommodate logs up to 550 mm (21.6 inches) long. This makes the Island III particularly suitable for larger living areas where a higher-output wood burning stove is required.
Wide Fire Viewing Window
The Island 3 has a large viewing window designed to provide a spectacular view of the flames.
Its twin-door design gives the stove its distinctive traditional appearance, while the wide viewing area makes the fire a strong focal point within the room.
Designed for Larger Rooms
The Island 3 is the largest model in the Island collection and is designed for larger rooms and open-plan areas.
Its traditional proportions work particularly well in spacious living areas where the stove can become a central feature while providing substantial heat output.
Clean-Burning Technology
The Island III incorporates Charnwood’s Cleanburn Airwash Technology and Quattroflow Air Management System.
The stove is available as an SIA Eco Design Ready model. Charnwood also offers a smoke-reducing kit that allows wood burning in UK smoke control areas where applicable.
The Quattroflow system provides a single air control, while the Airwash system helps keep the ceramic glass clearer during burning.
Wood Burning Only
Unlike the Island I and Island II, the Island III has a wood-burning option only.
Charnwood’s operating instructions specify dry seasoned wood logs as the approved fuel. Logs up to 550 mm long can be accommodated.
For South African customers, properly seasoned firewood should be used in accordance with the manufacturer’s operating requirements.

Island III Stand Options
The Charnwood Island III is available with different base configurations, including High Legs and Store Stand options.
The Store Stand raises the stove while providing an integrated area beneath the stove for storing firewood. The High Leg option gives the stove a taller, more elevated appearance.
