Charnwood Cove 3 Wood Burning Stove
The Charnwood Cove 3 is the largest Fireplace in the Cove range, designed to provide substantial heat for larger living spaces.
With a 12 kW rated output and a heat output range of 7–16 kW, the Cove 3 is suited to larger rooms, halls and open-plan areas. This fireplace is suitable for a space of up to approx. 400 mᶟ.
Its tall curved door provides a wide view of the fire, making the stove a strong focal point within the room. Due to the large portrait shaped curved glass and the firebox that can accommodate a log length up to 50 cms you can be assured of an impressive fireside experience when you fire up the Cove 3.
This freestanding version is supplied with the Low Stand, giving the stove a lower profile compared with the Store Stand configuration.
The ‘Blu’ version of the Cove 3 cast iron fireplace meets the 2022 requirements for clean burning and particulate reduction and so it is likely that after 2021, only the Blu version will be available in South Africa.
You can select from a choice of 5 different stand options and we generally have all in stock. However, we are happy to order as and when required for you from the UK factory if we do not have your preference available at the time of your order.
The Cove 3 Charnwood fireplace has one simple to operate air control mechanism because we want to make the user experience easy and uncomplicated. The substantial proportions of the Cove 3 make it especially eye-catching in a double volume space.
12 kW Wood Burning Stove
The Charnwood Cove 3 has a rated heat output of 12 kW and a maximum output of 16 kW.
The current Cove 3 BLU specification gives a net efficiency of 80% and accommodates logs up to 481 mm (19 inches) long.
The substantial firebox makes the Cove 3 suitable for larger spaces where a higher-output wood burning fireplace is required.
Large Curved Fire Viewing Window
The Cove 3 features a tall curved door that provides a spectacular view of the flames.
Its large proportions and distinctive curved design make it well suited to spacious interiors where the stove can become a central feature. The Cove 3 is the largest stove in the Cove collection.
Low Stand Freestanding Configuration
This version of the Charnwood Cove 3 is supplied with the Low Stand.
The Low Stand configuration measures approximately 1,130 mm high, 660 mm wide and 585 mm deep. The stove weighs approximately 159 kg in this configuration.
The lower stand provides a freestanding presentation without the additional height of the Store Stand.
Clean-Burning Technology
The Cove 3 incorporates Charnwood’s Cleanburn Airwash Technology and Quattroflow Air Management System.
The Airwash system helps maintain a clear view through the ceramic glass, while the Quattroflow system manages the air supplied to the fire.
The stove also features a drop-down throat plate, which allows the chimney to be swept through the stove.
The current Cove 3 BLU is SIA Eco Design Ready.
Wood Burning Fireplace
The current Cove 3 BLU is a wood-burning configuration.
Charnwood also has a non-BLU Cove 3 with a multi-fuel grate for burning suitable solid fuel. Therefore, the exact fuel capability should be confirmed against the specific Cove 3 configuration being supplied.
For the current BLU model, properly seasoned firewood should be used according to the manufacturer’s operating instructions.

Optional Convection Panels
Optional convection panels are available for the Cove 3.
Charnwood states that these panels gently convect heat into the room and can reduce the distance to combustible materials to 250 mm when correctly fitted.
Clearance requirements must be confirmed for the exact stove configuration and installation.
Flue Connection
The current Cove 3 BLU has a 178 mm (7-inch) flue outlet with top or rear connection options.
A vertical rear flue adaptor is available as an option.
Installation should follow the manufacturer’s requirements and applicable South African regulations. Correct flue sizing, clearances, hearth requirements and combustion air provision are important when installing a high-output wood burning stove.
