Charnwood Cove 3 Wood Burning Fireplace with Store Stand
The Charnwood Cove 3 is the largest fireplace in the Cove range, combining substantial heat output with a distinctive curved-door design.
With a 12 kW rated output and a heat output range of 7–16 kW, the Cove 3 is designed for larger rooms, halls and open-plan living areas. The freestanding fireplace is suitable for a space of up to approx. 400 mᶟ. This version features the Store Stand, giving the stove an elevated freestanding profile with integrated space below for storing firewood.
Its tall curved door provides a wide view of the flames, making the Cove 3 both a practical heating appliance and a strong focal point in a larger room.
Due to the large portrait shaped curved glass and the firebox that can accommodate a log length up to 50 cms you can be assured of an impressive fireside experience when you fire up the Cove 3.
The ‘Blu’ version of the Cove 3 meets the 2022 requirements for clean burning and particulate reduction and so it is likely that after 2021, only the Blu version will be available in South Africa.
You can select from a choice of 5 different stand options and we generally have all in stock. However, we are happy to order as and when required for you from the UK factory if we do not have your preference available at the time of your order.
The Cove 3 Charnwood fireplace has one simple to operate air control mechanism because we want to make the user experience easy and uncomplicated. The substantial proportions of the Cove 3 cast iron fireplace make it especially eye-catching in a double volume space.
12 kW Wood Burning Stove
The Charnwood Cove 3 has a 12 kW rated heat output, with an operating range of 7–16 kW.
The current Cove 3 BLU specification gives a net efficiency of 80% and a maximum log length of approximately 481 mm (19 inches).
The substantial firebox and high heat output make the Cove 3 particularly suited to larger spaces where a smaller stove may not provide sufficient heat.
Large Curved Fire Viewing Window
The Cove 3 features a tall curved door that gives a clear view of the fire.
Its proportions and curved design give the stove a distinctive appearance, while the large firebox accommodates logs of up to approximately half a metre long.
The design works well as a statement wood burning stove in both traditional and contemporary interiors.
Store Stand
The Charnwood Cove 3 Store Stand raises the stove to create a taller freestanding installation.
The Store Stand configuration measures approximately 1,330 mm high, 660 mm wide and 585 mm deep, with a stove weight of approximately 171 kg.
The space beneath the stove provides a practical location for storing firewood while maintaining the clean appearance of the installation.
Clean-Burning Technology
The Cove 3 incorporates Charnwood’s Cleanburn Airwash Technology and Quattroflow Air Management System.
Cleanburn supports efficient combustion, while the Airwash system helps keep the ceramic glass clearer during operation.
The stove also features a drop-down throat plate, allowing the chimney to be swept through the stove.
The current Cove 3 BLU specification is SIA Eco Design Ready.
Wood Burning Stove
The current Cove 3 BLU is designed for wood burning.
Charnwood’s documentation specifies seasoned hardwood for the published performance figures, and the current BLU model is listed as a wood-burning stove.
Charnwood also lists a non-BLU Cove 3 model that can be supplied with a multi-fuel grate for suitable solid fuels. This distinction is important when specifying the stove, so the exact configuration should be confirmed before purchase.

Convection Panels
Optional convection panels are available for the Cove range.
These panels gently convect heat into the room and can reduce the stated distance to combustible materials to 250 mm when fitted.
Clearance requirements must always be confirmed for the exact installation and configuration.
Flue Connection
The Cove 3 uses a 178 mm (7-inch) flue outlet on the current BLU specification, with top or rear connection options.
A vertical rear flue adaptor is available as an option.
Require a 180 mm flue diameter for the Cove 3 installation.
Installation should follow the manufacturer’s requirements together with applicable South African regulations. Correct flue sizing, clearances, hearth requirements and combustion air provision are essential.
